After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan
University and a Masters from Azusa Pacific College, Joanne
Bruckner established herself as a well known psychotherapist,
appearing on local and national television while still pursing
her love of art. She studied with Charles Hulett and noted
artist and author Nancy Kominsky and spent a summer studying at
the Art Institute in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She has
studied locally with outstanding artists Martha Saudec and
Combining her creative ability with her training in psychology,
Joanne studied under professors in the art department at UCLA to
develop an art therapy program.
Following retirement from her practice at her Center for Phobias in Glendale, California, Joanne devoted her full time to landscape oil painting. She has been strongly influenced by the splendor of the European countryside where she has spent months studying changes of light, and sketching. She uses the vivid colors of France, Spain and Portugal in oil paintings of American and European scenesóbringing a contemporary approach to traditional impressionist style.
Joanne is a painting patron member of the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America, Verdugo Hills and Glendale Fine Arts Associations. Her paintings can be found in southern California where she has won awards at numerous local art shows and in her home state of Michigan.
Joanne locally has done shows for the Rotary Club Foundation, Glendale Athletic Club, Private Garden Show San Marino, Le Balcony, North Hollywood and others. Currently, she is a Descanso Gardens Artist and is currently exhibiting the VILLAGE ARTISANS, Montrose, California and EUROPEAN ARTEFFECTS in Glendale, California.
